Mumbai joined cities worldwide to celebrate the 85th anniversary of one of pop culture’s most enduring icons: Batman. As the Batman universe expands, it’s clear that the Dark Knight’s appeal remains as strong as ever, 85 years after his debut in Detective Comics #27.

On September 21, 2024, the WeWork Enam Sambhav building in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) was transformed into a beacon for Bat-fans, as the iconic Bat-Signal illuminated the night sky to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the caped crusader.
Batman Day 2024 celebrations saw similar displays in Rio de Janeiro, Guangzhou, London, São Paulo, Tokyo, and Milan, uniting fans across continents in their love for Dark Knight. The event in Mumbai was particularly special, offering a nostalgic journey through Batman’s cinematic history.
Attendees were treated to a special screening of the 1966 Batman: The Movie, which allowed them to experience the campy charm that first brought the Caped Crusader to the big screen.

As Batman’s legacy continues to evolve, fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the franchise. Colin Farrell reprises his role as Oz Cobb, also known as The Penguin, in a gritty spinoff series. This show, now streaming on Jio Cinema, promises to delve deeper into Gotham’s criminal underworld, exploring power struggles and deception as Cobb attempts to climb the ranks following the events of 2022’s “The Batman.”
The series is expected to bridge the gap between “The Batman” and its upcoming sequel, “The Batman Part II,” which will see Robert Pattinson don the cape and cowl once again.
From his humble beginnings in 1939 to becoming a global phenomenon, Batman’s journey of determination and grit continues to inspire generations.
